Eastlink Project, Melbourne
Ancon MBT Headed Anchors have been installed on a section of the Eastlink Project in Melbourne.
EastLink is a AU$3.8 billion road project which will deliver Melbourne's second fully-electronic tollway, comprising about 45 kilometres of freeway-standard road connecting the city's eastern and south-eastern suburbs. Major construction began in early 2005 and the road opened to traffic on Sunday 29 June 2008, five months ahead of the scheduled opening date.
Ancon MBT Headed Anchors are designed to provide dead end embedment for bars in concrete. This helps to reduce congestion and simplify the placement of rebars by removing the need for hooked ends. The anchor comprises half an MBT coupler with a plate welded to one end which carries the full tension load of the bar when it is bearing against the concrete. The MBT Headed Anchor also has the added advantage of requiring no special bar end preparation.
