Sydney Olympic Stadium - Shear Connectors

Ancon DSD Shear Load Connectors were installed in Sydney’s Olympic Stadium. The stadium was completed in 1998 and was the central venue for track and field events at the 2000 Games.

Sports stadia of this size are subject to considerable loads. The structural movement joints must be designed to allow the necessary movement and load transfer to take place, ensuring the structure functions correctly.

Ancon DSDs offer significant advantages over single dowels. They are more effective at transferring load across a joint, while allowing expansion and contraction of the structure to take place. They also simplify the onsite construction of the structural movement joint.

Ancon DSD100s have been installed at the beam to slab connections on this all-seat stadium.
